An extension of the Thar Desert in southern Punjab, Pakistan. The dry bed of the ancient Hakra River runs through it, lined with many Indus Valley Civilization sites. The massive walls of Derawar Fort rise from the sand. Nomadic herders move with camels and cattle between seasonal ponds. Hosts the annual Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally.
