About Libyan Desert
The northeastern part of the Sahara and one of the driest places on Earth. Contains the Great Sand Sea, the Gilf Kebir plateau, and the Siwa and Kharga oases. Some areas go years without measurable rain. The Western Desert campaign of World War II was fought along its northern edge.
