About Tatacoa Desert
The second largest arid zone in Colombia after La Guajira, technically a tropical dry forest. Eroded red and grey gullies give it a lunar look. Rich in fossils from the Miocene epoch. Clear skies and little light pollution make it a popular astronomy destination. Spanish explorers named it the Valley of Sorrows.
